[Thursday, June 26, 2014]--Today, Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) proudly announced that Richard Heimler has agreed to join its Board of Directors. Heimler, a dedicated lung cancer advocate and expert in the field of development, joins LCA, the leading national organization dedicated to saving lives and advancing research by empowering those living with and at risk for lung cancer.
“This is a very proud day for LCA and the entire lung cancer community,” said Laurie Fenton Ambrose, LCA President & CEO. “Richard is a dear friend of all of ours and a devoted lung cancer advocate. His passion, charisma and inspiring strength adds a force to our fight that will help take us to the next level in our battle against lung cancer. Richard’s devotion and commitment is inspiring and we could not be happier to welcome him onto our board.”
Since his diagnosis, Richard has dedicated himself to the fight against lung cancer and has had great success. This year Richard celebrates a decade of survival and marked it with an inspirational act of awareness, a short documentary called Richard’s Rays of Hope. The film aims to create an inspirational piece by turning a negative diagnosis into a positive way of life for anyone touched by cancer. Richard has worked in both sales and development. He has two beautiful children, Michael and Rachel, and a wonderful partner, Chris.
“As a ten year lung cancer survivor, I consider myself a reluctant advocate for lung cancer since we have so few voices within the lung cancer community. My goal is to raise hope and awareness for anyone impacted by lung cancer. It is an honor to be a board member for the Lung Cancer Alliance,” said Heimler.
