In Memoriam:
LCA Mourns the Loss of a Member of the LCA Family
Dear Friends,
It is with profound sadness that I share with you that Diane Rothschild, LCA Board Member, lost her five-year battle with lung cancer this morning. Alan, her husband, shared with me that she died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Diane, while small in size, was a pillar of grace, beauty, and artistic brilliance - who fought lung cancer with tenacity and chutzpa - second to none. Diane sparked our "movement" by devising and creating the images and messages we stridently and purposefully carry forward today -- in the halls of Congress and State Houses, in newspaper columns and talk shows, in fund raising events and support groups. Diane's magnificence will continue to run like a thread through our lives as powerful as the world renowned campaigns she created. As Diane always challenged herself, she now challenges us to "go do something great".and to that I say."we will".
I thought you might like to read more about Diane and her legendary accomplishments.
Diane Rothschild began her advertising career at Doyle Dane Bernbach, the epicenter of what was to become known as the Creative Revolution. She became an Executive Vice President, Creative Director, and a member of the agency's New York Board of Directors.
Diane is listed in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in American Women. She is also a past board member of advertising's prestigious One Club, and has been called "a member of "Advertising's Creative Royalty" by the Wall Street Journal.
Diane is best known for the ads and commercials she's created on Volkswagen, Chivas Regal, CIGNA, J&B, Land Rover & Range Rover.
Her work is taught in advertising classes, and included in the permanent collections of museums from the Museum of Broadcasting to the Museum of Modern Art. The introduction of Range Rover also became a Harvard Case Study.
In an industry that keeps score by creative awards, Diane has won, literally, hundreds - including more awards than any other writer at DDB, at a time when DDB was winning more awards than any other agency in the world.
In 1986 Diane left Doyle Dane Bernbach with Vice Chairman Roy Grace to become President of Grace & Rothschild, an agency known for its smart, clever advertising for a list of A List clients from Mount Sinai to Mobil.
When Roy Grace retired in 2000, Diane merged Grace & Rothschild with Della Femina, Jeary & Partners, and became Vice Chairman of Della Femina, Rothschild, Jeary & Partners.
This year Diane was inducted into the One Club's Creative Hall of Fame. Considered by many the most prestigious creative recognition in advertising, Diane is now one of only 40 art directors and writers to be inducted in over 40 years - and one of only four women.
Most Sincerely,
Laurie Fenton Ambrose
