Contact Your Elected Officials

Your elected officials want to hear from you! They need to know what is going on in their districts and it is up to you to tell them.

In a Congressional office, every email or piece of mail is read and every call is answered or returned. The topic of the calls, emails and letters is logged in order to gauge and identify the needs and requests from the district served. The more times a certain issue is brought to the attention of the staff, the more likely it is that this issue will be brought to the direct attention of the Senator or Representative.

Sending mail to the Washington, DC offices takes a very long time. It is sent to an offsite processing plant to check for hazardous materials. Then it is sent to the mailrooms of your Senators and Representatives. If you want to send a personal note, the best and most timely place to send to is the district office in your state.
