In Memory of Paul C. "Buster" Honeycutt

Paul Honeycutt
In loving memory
June 20, 1939 - Oct. 26, 2000

Paul C. "Buster" Honeycutt June 20,1939 - October 26, 2000 - my Dad, my Friend, my Hero

This is a story about my dad, Paul, who was diagnosised with lung cancer in August 1999. He was a fighter, who was "given" 7 to 9 months. Through the Lord's help he survived 14 short wonderful months. All during this time he never complained about pain or any of the chemo he received every three weeks for a week at a time. Never did he complain about the shots he had to endure, which all made him so sick. Dad lived his life day by day, trusting the Lord to guide him through each passing moment.

The Lord blessed us so much during Dad's last week of life. He allowed Dad to keep his memory, and to share God and his love with all his family, and the Lord lifted Dad's pain in his last week. My husband and my mom, as well as our children and I, read the Bible daily, and sang and played his favorite gospel songs as we waited for the Lord to call him home.

The night before he passed away, the preacher asked him if he was ready to meet Jesus, and as plain as day we heard him say "Yes." That was the last word we heard him say. Hospice came for the first time about ten minutes before he died. He never needed pain medication as he went home to be with the Lord. Our Lord and Savior took control and guided Dad as he began his final journey to the heavenly home the Lord had prepared for him.

The Hospice nurse said she had never seen anyone go as easy and peaceful as he allowed Dad to go! On October 26, 2000, my wonderful Dad and best friend went home to be with the Lord after a brave and courageous battle against lung cancer. He was truly a friend to all he met, and will always remain a HERO in my eyes! You will always be in my heart. I love you Dad, and miss you!
