Faces of Lung Cancer

In Memory of Harold Curry

Harold Curry

My father, Harold Curry, passed away on the morning of May 7th, 2003. He was diagnosed with lung cancer that spread to the bone last September.

I thank God every day that I had the time to spend with my father over the last eight months. Beyond being a good father, he was a buddy that I loved hanging out with. Over the duration of his illness, he went through chemo, radiation, a stroke, new-found diabetes and loss of vision. Never once did he complain. Instead, he made us laugh with constant one-liners, pranks on my mom and the nurses, and victory dances.

The day before he died I was able to tell him one last time how much I loved him and how proud I was of his strength through it all. I truly believe that if it wasn't for his humorous look at life (and death) that he and my family wouldn't have lasted the eight months we were given. He was a very special man.

We love you and will miss you tremendously, Dad.

Keep 'em laughing in Heaven.
