About Us
Who is Lung Cancer Alliance?
We are the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to providing support and advocacy for people living with or at risk for the disease.
Our mission ending injustice and saving lives through an alliance of advocacy, education and support.
Our vision is to reduce lung cancer mortality by at least 50% by 2020.
Founded in 1995, our first priority and founding hallmark is to meet the needs of lung cancer patients and those at risk. As the largest lung cancer advocacy organization in the world, we work tirelessly to improve outcomes, eliminate stigma and secure public health research dollars. Thanks primarily to the support of thousands of individuals who initially get help from us and then in turn desire to give back, we have met many milestones:
-
Reaching thousands of hospitals and cancer centers nationwide and responding to thousands of calls and emails per month so that patients and families know that they're not alone -- and that we are here to help through free support, information and referral services.
-
Empowering families to help eliminate stigma through successful national awareness campaigns, including Give A Scan, Team Lung Love, and the National Shine A Light on Lung Cancer Vigil reaching every state.
-
Training thousands of lung cancer activists to educate elected officials and secure millions more in public health research dollars.
Why We’re Uniquely Qualified
It really comes down to the people behind the organization -- our dedicated volunteers, advocates, chapters, Board of Directors, partners and staff --- and how we execute a very well thought out and effective strategy. Although much more needs to be done, we are confident of meeting the challenges ahead because:
- We put the needs of patients and their loved ones first – we are patient and caregiver-driven and wake up every day thinking what we can do better and more of to help them today.
- We are information-based, providing the most up to date and relevant information on every aspect of lung cancer -- presented in easy to understand language for a wide audience – that will help save lives today.
- We work with anyone – individuals, communities, businesses, foundations, institutions and other nonprofits – who also share our vision.
- We are tireless advocates with a growing network of volunteer activists that are the driving force behind a nationwide lung cancer movement.
We share our business information openly on our website and will answer any inquiries into our funding. Click here to view our most recent annual report.
